Technique es el quinto álbum de estudio de la banda de rock inglesa New Order. Publicado el 30 de enero de 1989 por Factory Records, el álbum fue grabado en parte en la isla de Ibiza e incorpora influencias balearic beat(a veces llamado Ibiza house) y acid house en el sonido dance-rock del grupo. El álbum fue influenciado por la creciente escena ácida y las experiencias de Sumner en Shroom en Londres. También fue el último álbum de estudio de New Order que se lanzará bajo Factory Records (aunque no su último lanzamiento de Factory, que es "World in Motion" del año siguiente); el sello se declararía en bancarrota en 1992 luego de una severa recesión financiera causada principalmente por el importante fracaso comercial de Yes Please! de Happy Mondays!

Technique fue el primer álbum de New Order en alcanzar el número uno en las listas del Reino Unido, y "Fine Time", el primer sencillo del álbum, alcanzó el número 11 de la UK Singles Chart. Las versiones remezcladas de "Round & Round" y "Run" también se lanzaron como singles.

En el año 2008 el álbum fue re-lanzado en una edición para coleccionistas con un disco extra.

Este fue el primer álbum en alcanzar el número uno en las listas del Reino Unido. Es considerado, junto con Power, Corruption & Lies, Low-Life y Brotherhood, como uno de los mejores álbumes de New Order, siendo éste la culminación creativa y musical de la banda. En 2006, la revista Q colocó el disco en el puesto número 21 en su lista de los "40 mejores discos de los años 80".​ Mientras que NME clasificó el álbum en el puesto número 122 en su lista de los "500 mejores álbumes de todos los tiempos" en 2013.
